Raising your hand

Did a host say that you can “raise your hand”? Then he probably didnt meant you should literally raise your hand. In most cases, he wont be able to see you or other people in the meeting. What he might mean, is that you can use the “raise hand” function in Zoom. This is how the option works:

  1. In the top right, tap “Participants”
  2. A list of participants appears.
  3. Click “Raise hand”. The host will get a notification. A hand will appear next to your name.

Lowering your hand
Your hand will remain “raised”, until you click the “raise hand” button again. When you do this, the hand next to your name will dissapear. You can close the “Participants” window again, by tapping “Participants” again.

Heads up! Enabling your camera doesn’t automatically mean that you’ll be seen by everyone. Usually, only the person currently speaking is shown on the screen. That’s why there’s no point in E.G raising your hand in Zoom. Use the “raise hand” functionality in Zoom for that instead!

Raise hand

If the host says that you can “raise your hand”, he likely doesn’t mean you should literaly raise your hand. In most cases, he won’t actually be paying attention to your camera feed. He probably means you should use the “raise hand” feature in Zoom. This is how the feature works;

Click “Participants” near the center of your app.A list of participants appears. Near the bottom, buttons to give feedback appear. The first button is “raise hand”.Click “raise hand”. The host will get a notification. A hand will also appear next to your name.

Lowering your hand
You’ll continue to “raise your hand”, until you click the “raise hand” button again. When you do this, the hand next to your name will dissapear. You can close the Participants window by clicking “Participants” again.
